strap neck·lace | ˈstrap ne-kləs
noun
A mesh chain with pendants suspended by a short, fine chain resembling a fringe
A strap necklace is a particular type of necklace that was repopularized during the Victorian period. Made from a mesh chain, most often crafted of gold, a strap necklace may be connected to a series of other chains and will be adorned with any number of ornaments in the form of gemstones, flowers, scarabs, or other significant imagery. The resulting necklace has a look resembling a fringe and often has a more intricate pattern woven into the chain and the attached elements that form the piece.
