Solder
sol·der | ˈsä-dər
verb
A jewelry production technique which joins two metals, using a melted metal or alloy
Solder is a type of jewelry production technique in which a melted alloy or metal is used to join together two different types of metals in a piece of jewelry. This can be used in the joints of a ring, pendant, bracelet, earring or other type of jewelry that is not a single piece of metal. Soldering is often used to join wedding sets or different components in a single piece of jewelry that have been cast separately. This is common when a piece has multiple types of metals or if the shape of the pieces requires that they be carefully cast alone and then combined into a single piece when completed.
