Square Band

square band | ˈskwer band

noun

A band whose shank is not rounded at the edges

A square band is unique from a round band in that there are no rounded edges on the shank where it contacts skin on the wearer’s finger. The result is that the square band is less likely to swivel or move than a rounded band. In addition to the ring being more stationary on the finger, which can be desirable for an engagement ring, the stones along the band reach further to the edge, which can make for a brighter and generally more engaging look. The band disappears into the finger with only the stone showing from most angles.
