Sparkle
spar·kle | ˈspär-kəl
verb
The act of giving off or reflecting bright, moving points of light
A sparkle refers to the resulting visual appearance of an object that reflects bright moving points of light. In terms of jewelry, “sparkle” most often refers to different types of gemstones that are cut in such a way that they refract a large amount of light in an efficient manner. The design of gemstones and pieces of jewelry are usually engineered in such a way to maximize or increase the sparkle evident in a piece. Some of the techniques used to do this include melee, halos, and split prongs. There are other ways that a sparkle may be increased as well depending on cut, setting, and overall style and presentation of a stone or stones within a specific piece of jewelry.
