Silver Tone
sil·ver·tone | ˈsil-vər-tōn
adjective
A term used to describe a jewelry piece that is silver plated or coated, but not sterling silver
Silver tone jewelry is a type of plated or coated jewelry that is not sterling silver. Because these styles of jewelry are not traditionally made from silver, they can be made for different settings and applications. For example, most silver tone costume jewelry is made with rhodium, the plating applied to provide the same silver color on the jewelry piece with a significant amount of flexibility in how it is carved and worked with. There are several other types of silver tone jewelry as well, depending on how it will be used.
