Petite
pe·tite | pə-ˈtēt
adjective
A small, potentially fragile piece of jewelry
A petite piece of jewelry is one that is incredibly fine and requires a higher than normal attention to detail to ensure it is not only crafted properly, but cared for and protected from damage. A common example of petite jewelry design is micro-pave. Other instances of petite jewelry include thinner than normal rings or necklaces, fine stones that are strung together carefully below a pendant or in earrings. These pieces are generally not designed for everyday use or wear, because of how delicate they can potentially be. There are some petite jewelry techniques, however, that allow for the piece to be more durable when properly attended to.
