noun
A large field of small stones set very close together to create wall-to-wall paved object
Pavé is the French term for cobblestone or pavement. In Jewelry it is used to describe a field of small stones that create a multi-faceted surface that enhances the reflectiveness of a piece. Pavé refers to the setting of a ring, and how the diamonds are presented in the ring. Pavé refers to the line of diamonds that appear around the ring that create a higher level of sparkle than a single stone alone could. These diamonds are much smaller than larger stones - typically less than 0.1 carats in size and are lower in quality because they are presented together. Sometimes they are not fully colorless either. These are all elements that can be selected for when designing a ring.
