Trillion Cut

tril·lion cut | ˈtri(l)-yən kət

noun

A triangular shaped diamond cut, with abbreviated corners and typically varying facets

A trillion cut diamond is one that has a triangular shape, with much shorter corners than other types of diamond cuts and a variable number of facets depending on the size of the stone and the type of setting used. The diamond will have three equal sizes and between 31 and 50 facets depending on where the stone is used (solitaire vs accent). There are other variations to the trillion cut diamond as well, including how rounded the corners are, and the use of them for step cuts. This cut is selected for a great deal of fire and high brilliance with the right depth to the stone. Trillion stones can be used as solitaires but are most often used as side stones.
