Torsade
tor·sade | tȯr-ˈsäd
noun
A twisted strands of pearls, ending in a clasp
A torsade is a type of necklace or bracelet that consists of multiple strands of pearls twisted together and ending in a single clasp that holds them in place. Torsade necklaces came in many different lengths and could be worn as chokers, sautoirs and other types of necklaces in between. Other materials were also used in some forms of Torsade, including chains or other stones or gems that were stranded together. However, pearls are most commonly associated with a traditional Torsade necklace, often with a diamond clasp.
