Rose Quartz

rose quartz | ˈrōz kwȯrts

noun

A translucent, milky-pink variety of Quartz

Rose quartz is a variation of quartz that is a whitish-pink color, largely translucent. It has traditionally been used in materials that are given as a token of friendship. Rose quartz has been found in beads and other small materials dating back to 7,000 BC, but is still popular today in modern materials as well as antiques that have been found. Rose quartz may also be called bohemian ruby or simply quartz, depending on the color and structure of the material that is being discussed. Rose quartz is unique from pink quartz because it is unaffected by direct light and therefore more stable in its color.
