Rose Gold

rose gold | ˈrōz gōld

noun

An alloy of gold mixed with copper, which gives it red tint

Rose gold is an alloy of gold and copper that is designed to provide a reddish or pink hue to natural gold and has become highly popular in certain types of jewelry including rings and necklaces. By blending these two metals, jewelers are able to produce a final metal that is a different color than traditional gold and a different karat weight. The most common combination of gold to copper in rose gold is 75% gold and 25% copper. This is considered 18k rose gold. Rose gold is also available as 14k. There are additional alloys of rose gold, including ones that include a bit of silver that makes the resulting metal more pink than reddish.
