Ring Sizes
ring siz·es | ˈriŋ sī-zez
noun
A measurement used to denote the circumference (or sometimes the diameter) of rings
A ring size is the standard circumference of a ring as it relates to the wearer’s finger. Ring sizing has been largely standardized throughout the jewelry industry to ensure that someone can buy a ring from any source and know that the sizing will remain consistent. However, different national systems utilize different approaches to the measurement of ring sizes. For example, the US uses a numeric system (e.g. ring size 5) while the UK uses an alphabetic system and the European Union uses a numeric system that relates to the interior circumference of the ring measured in millimeters.
