Ideal²
ide·al square | ī-ˈdē(-ə)l skwer
adjective
A square diamond cut with a hearts & arrows pattern
An ideal² cut diamond is designed to perform exceptionally well in returning light and creates a Hearts & Arrows pattern due to the 80 facets on the gem. The new cut was developed in Canada and is cut to what is considered “ideal” proportions that work well beyond what a square-cut diamond can perform. It takes much longer to achieve the quality of an ideal² cut diamond due to the high standards to which these diamonds are cut. Less than 1% of all diamonds can be cut to the ideal² standard. The resulting cut shows eight distinctive arrows from the top of the diamond, a unique shape and perspective not replicable in a square cut.
