Euro-shank
eu·ro shank | ˌyu̇r-ə shaŋk
noun
A ring shank with a flat or squarish bottom
A shank refers to the band or hoop of any type of ring. A euro-shank is a popular type of shank and is often selected to prevent a ring from spinning and because it is often very comfortable. Such shanks have a flat or squarish bottom only seen on the outer edge of the ring, with the inner circle remaining round like any other ring. Euro shank rings are selected because they don’t spin, which causes great discomfort for many wearers, especially if there is a large center stone that could stab at the wearer were it to rotate inward. The design is also considered more modern and striking.
