Woven
wo·ven | ˈwō-vən
adjective
A jewelry design element in which multiple strands of an often precious metal are interlaced together
Woven jewelry refers to a specific type of design technique in which multiple strands of precious metals are interlaced together to create a woven look and feel that is unique. While it physically resembles braided jewelry, woven jewelry is unique in that it cannot be cast into the design. Instead, it requires separated thin strands of metal that are then interlaced with one another and then soldered to hold them together once done. This technique creates an aesthetic that other types of interlacing cannot match, and is therefore highly sought after, but also difficult to achieve depending on the type of metal and jewelry being worked with.
