Vintage jewelry is any type of jewelry that dates back to a particular period of notoriety in fashion and jewelry. For a piece of jewelry to be considered vintage, it must be old, recognized with lineage that can be traced to the time period in question, and it must have remained sought after and valued due to its quality, interest, or importance. There are several commonly popularly vintage periods including Edwardian, Art Deco, Retro, and Mid-Century. There is a subculture of jewelers and collectors in the jewelry industry that seek out and make vintage and vintage-inspired pieces.
