adjective
A term used to describe a gemstone that lacks discernible internal or external blemishes when viewed by a gemologist using no less than 10x magnification
Flawless is a term used to describe a gemstone that does not have any discernible internal or external flaws. To determine when a gem is considered flawless, a benchmark of 10x magnification is used and it must be viewed and measured by a gemologist. On a diamond certificate, FL is the highest certification a gem can get, meaning it has the highest Clarity grade a diamond can get under 10x magnification. Flawless classification only refers to the clarity in these cases and does not take into consideration issues that might exist with the cut, color or carat weight of the diamond.
