Zinc

zinc | ˈziŋk

noun

An abundant, lustrous, bluish-white metallic element of the Magnesium-Cadmium group

Zinc is an element on the periodic table with the atomic number of 30. It is readily available in nature, has a naturally bluish white look and is part of the magnesium-cadmium group of metals. Brittle at room temperature, zinc is highly malleable when heated, and is therefore used in a number of alloys including brass, bronze, and nickel silver. It is also commonly used in a number of solders. It is resistant to oxidation as well, making it ideal for coating other metals that are highly susceptible to rust such as iron. It has hundreds of practical applications including gutters, cases, fuses, and electric batteries.
