Jabot pin

ja·bot pin | zha-ˈbō pin

noun

A jeweled tie pin popular in the 1920s and 1930s

A jabot pin is a type of brooch that is designed to showcase the decorative, jewel-encrusted ends at either side of the brooch, with the fabric visible between the two ends of the piece. They were first introduced in the 18th century when men used them to secure the jabot (ruffled lace at the front of their shirts). They were repopularized in the 1920s and 1930s when the Art Deco aesthetic introduced geometric shapes and designs to the style. Materials commonly used in these early 20th-century jabots included platinum, rock crystal, diamonds, and other types of gemstones.
