Drop
drop | ˈdräp
adjective
An earring style that includes a focal point which drops below the earlobe, often attached by a simple or adorned chain
Drop earrings include a number of different types of earring styles that drop below the earlobe, including dangle earrings, which are designed to be flexible and dangle well below the ear. These earrings are attached to the lower earlobe and feature a single gemstone or other ornamentation that changes from the ear by a loop, chain or other object. The length can be as short as several milimeters or as long as a few centimeters. These earrings can also be known as drop earrings and pendant earrings. Closures on drop earrings are typically studs or posts and may be single pieces where the hook and hanger are attached directly, or they may be looser as is the case with dangle earrings.
