Relief Engraving

The style of engraving found on this ring is called relief engraving because of the way the background is cut away around the design. It is much more difficult and time consuming than regular engraving, in which the design itself is carved into the metal, and our artisans have the skill and experience to execute it to perfection. It is also considered fancier than traditional hand engraving, and it’s a beautiful touch to add to such a special piece.

We begin the custom design process by getting as many details as possible from you about what sort of features you want your piece to include. With the information you give us, we’ll come up with an original design that we’ll share with you via the online workroom we create for each custom project.

At this point, you can request any modifications you’d like, and we’ll go through as many rounds of revision are necessary to get every detail just right. If you’d like, we can also grow a wax model of your ring for you to inspect before you give the final go ahead to put the piece into production.
