Pendant Description

This striking pendant features a round diamond atop a black opal, all set in the middle of a concave circle of white gold, accented by filigree and diamonds. It’s part of the Illusia Collection by Galatea, and we are proud to carry this and many other wonderful pieces by the designer in our Bellevue, WA showroom.

Center Setting

At the heart of this piece is a round diamond prong set in white gold, and this setting is perched atop a piece of black opal. The opal, in turn, sits at the lowest point of the concave circle that defines the main body of the piece, and this positioning allows that 14k white gold to reflect the colors of the opal when the piece is viewed straight on from the front. Pendant Design and Diamond Accents

The circular section in the middle of this pendant is bordered by filigree that loops up to form more of an oval shape, topped by more angular sections that create almost a star-like quality for the piece. The strands of filigree extend from the middle of each side up and down, with scrolls at the ends where they curl in to meet each other.

At these meeting places, wider ribbons of metal sit on top of the scrolls, and beyond that, a round diamond is bright cut set. A similar arrangement exists on either side of the center, but in this case, there are four ribbons of metal curving outward over the filigree, with a pointed section holding a diamond emerging from between the two center ribbons. 100% Satisfaction

All of the ribbon-like pieces of metal in this pendant are sandblasted to create a fine-grain matte surface, and this contrasts nicely with the high polish found elsewhere on the piece. It also creates a different type of contrast with the rich color of the black opal as its reflected in the center circle, helping it to stand out that much more.
