Pendant Description

This beautiful pendant features a round crystal opal set in white gold, surrounded by a diamond halo, and with custom filigree accents on the basket. It was created for a client from Bellevue, WA, who worked with our team in-store to share her vision for the piece. Once she was satisfied that we had captured exactly the look she was going for, she gave her approval for us to move into production.

Center Opal

The gem at the center of this piece is a 31.56 carat round specially cut crystal opal. Its mix of opacity and translucence gives it an ephemeral quality, and this is only intensified by the swirling pattern the special cut creates when the stone is viewed straight on. It’s held securely by eight claw prongs made of 14k white gold, and the lovely contrast between the polished, silvery metal and the soft whitish color of the gem helps to further highlight the latter’s beauty.

Diamond Halo

Surrounding the opal is a halo made up of small round diamonds. These are bright cut set in white gold, and they add just a hint of sparkle to the piece, while also brining a new layer of subtle contrast with the larger center stone. The use of a halo here also serves to frame the opal and give a nice sense of completion to the piece.

Basket Design

The back of the opal is protected by an ornate basket made of 14k white gold hand-made filigree. The swirling, curling shapes of the filigree mirror the swirls in the larger gem, and this helps accentuate the beauty of both design details.

As a finishing touch, the bale connecting the pendant to the chain is also accented with filigree, and it features a diagonal strip of round bright cut set diamonds running across its face.
