Custom Mokume Inlay Men's Band
Item #103492Men's Wedding Band Description
This stylish men’s wedding ring features a mokume gane inlay across most of the top half of the brushed palladium band. It was created for a couple from Emeryville, CA, and we made a women’s wedding ring for them at the same time. They began the custom design process by visiting our Bellevue, WA showroom in person, and afterwards, they finalized the details of their pieces through the online workroom we set up to manage their projects. Mokume Gane Inlay
The mokume gane section of this ring is made up of 14k palladium white gold, 14k rose gold, and sterling silver. To develop the elegant patterns seen in this piece, thin sheets of these three metals were layered together and then forged using a particular technique that was first developed in Japan over 200 years ago.
Although it was originally only used to make decorative sheaths and handles for samurai swords, mokume gane has found its way into custom fine jewelry as well. The metals can be combined to create all manner of organic-style patterns, and due to the nature of the forging process, no two mokume gane pieces will ever be exactly alike. Mokume Jewelry
Band Design and Brushed Finish
This ring features a flat top surface that’s brushed to create a soft matte effect. This helps draw out the distinctive color of the palladium, as well as the contrasts between the different shades of metal in the mokume gane section. The band is all palladium on the bottom, and there is no obvious break in the design when the mokume gane begins. Men’s Custom Wedding Bands
This inlay runs from the mid-point on one side to the same spot on the other, and it covers nearly the entire top surface of the band. On one side, the mokume is flush with the edge of the ring, but on the other, it yields to a narrow rail that balances it out nicely. The inlay sits at the same level as the rest of the band, creating a subtle separation with the design and a color contrast that is small enough not to be overly dramatic.

Details
To reduce color fading, avoid friction against any surface. Avoid wearing your mokume ring during exercise, construction work, gardening, or other abrasive activities. When owning a mokume gane ring with oxidization, avoid chlorine or other similar chemicals as they eat away the patina.
