This elegant engagement ring features a round brilliant cut diamond prong set in the center of a three-stone setting, accented by pear shaped side diamonds atop a platinum shank. Three-stone Setting

At the center of this ring is a one carat round brilliant cut diamond. It’s prong set in platinum, and it sits up slightly higher than the two side stones that complete the three-stone setting. These side stones are also diamonds, although they’re pear-shaped and oriented with their rounded end up against the side of the larger center diamond. Diamond Engagement Rings

Pear shaped diamonds are a popular choice for the accents in a three-stone setting, although there are plenty of other options as well. The three diamonds in this ring balance each other nicely, with the side diamonds together totaling 0.40 carats and smoothing the transition to the shank below.

Band Design

While the layout of the center setting is traditionally elegant, the way the band meets the side pear shaped diamonds signals the introduction of some more contemporary themes. The points of the side diamonds almost seem to disappear into the flat ends of the shank that come up on either side, and the top of the shank is about as wide as the widest part of the pear shaped diamonds.
