Engagement Ring Description

This elegant engagement ring features a round brilliant cut diamond in the center, with a pear shaped blue sapphire on either side to complete the three-stone setting. It was created for a couple from Kirkland, WA, who visited our Bellevue, WA showroom in person to view some sample pieces and find the one they wanted to customize. Design Your Own Engagement Ring

We developed a set of CAD proofs after their initial visit based on the pieces that they loved, and we shared these with them online. After requesting a few modifications, they came in to see a wax model of the piece, and they quickly approved that to move into production.

Three-stone Setting

In the center of this ring, a 0.71 carat round brilliant cut diamond is held in place by four palladium white gold prongs. These rise up from the trellis setting below, crossing over the prongs that hold the side sapphires and creating a delicate, elegant look. Our initial CAD was based on a three-stone ring with side sapphires but without the complete trellis setting, and the main changes the clients requested had to do with extending that feature beyond the center to thoroughly incorporate the side stones. On either side of the center, a pear shaped blue sapphire is prong set with its rounded end up against the side of the larger diamond. The two together total 0.25 carats, and they complement the shape of the center nicely while helping to facilitate the transition to the narrower band below. Sapphire and Diamond Engagement Rings

Customization Options and Band Design

The band itself is rounded and slightly tapered as it nears the side of the center setting. It reaches its narrowest point right where it joins the final prong holding the side sapphires in place, and this works nicely with the shape and size of the stones in the center to create a satisfying overall balance for the piece.
