Engagement Ring Description

This gorgeous engagement ring features a round brilliant cut diamond prong set in yellow gold atop a wide, relief-engraved shank. It was created for a client from Stone Mountain, GA, who reached out to us through our website to share his inspiration piece and learn more about the custom design process.

We helped him evaluate his various center stone options to determine which would best balance the design while still staying within his budget. Once he’d made a decision in that regard, we were ready to move his piece into production. Design Your Own Engagement Ring

Diamond Center

The lone gemstone in this ring is a one carat round brilliant cut diamond with stunning fire. It’s held in a four prong yellow gold setting that rises directly up from the surface of the wide shank below. Because there are no accent stones in this design, the ring is considered a solitaire, which is a traditional choice for an engagement ring. Solitaire Engagement Rings

Even though it’s a traditional style, however, it’s quite an eye-catching and unique piece thanks to the band design and engraved pattern, and that provides a glimpse into the many ways you can integrate traditional features while still putting your personal mark on a design.

Relief Engraving

Except for a small section at the very bottom, the band of this ring is covered with a floral pattern of relief hand engraving. The term relief engraving refers to the fact that the design in this ring was created by cutting the background away, leaving the pattern raised up. It is considered a more elegant form of engraving, and it’s also quite a bit more labor intensive than the process of carving the design directly into the metal. Hand Engraving

In order to highlight the engraved design further, the background received a sandblasted finish, creating a fine matte surface, while the raised portion was polished.
