Engagement Ring Description

This exquisite engagement ring features a pear shaped blue topaz prong set atop a platinum shank, with diamond accents and custom hand engraving on the band. It was created for a client from Charlottesville, VA, who reached out to us online to begin the custom design process. We worked closely with her to finalize all of the details of the piece, and she was so happy with the finished product that she came back to us when it was time to have a matching wedding band made. Blue Topaz Center

The centerpiece of this ring is a one carat pear shaped blue topaz. Its delicate blue color is enhanced by the elegant shine of the platinum it’s set in, and the five prongs holding it cradle it beautifully.

Topaz is associated with romantic love and loyalty, making it a wonderful choice as an alternative to a diamond in an engagement ring. It registers an 8 on the Mohs’ scale of hardness, which is slightly lower than sapphires or diamonds but still appropriate for a ring like this that you’ll wear every day. Diamond Accents

Two round brilliant cut diamonds are prong set on either side of the topaz, with the larger of the pair closer to the center setting. These provide a nice contrast to the central blue gem, both in color and shape, and they help ease the transition to the tapered shank below. This is also a good example of a way that you can use an alternative center stone while still incorporating the traditional diamonds into the design.

Custom Hand Engraving and Milgrain

A lovely, flowing hand-engraved pattern covers the fronts of the ring from the spot where the center setting ends to the three-quarter point on the band. It’s lined with milgrain beading along the top border as well, which adds some vintage flair while simultaneously giving the design a nice, finished feel.
