Engagement Ring Description

This elegant engagement ring features a gorgeous purple sapphire tension set in a split platinum shank. It originated as a custom order for a client from Seattle, WA, who wanted the perfect ring to match his perfect proposal. Our designers worked with him to give life to his vision, and after several modifications, came up with this lovely and unique design.

Center Sapphire

Although diamonds are likely the first stones that come to mind when you think of engagement rings, sapphires are actually a popular choice as well. In this case, the wonderful purple color of the stone is enhanced by its brilliant cut and the way it’s tension set between the two sides of the split shank.

The diamond accents set along these wrapped edges provide a great contrast to the rich color of the sapphire, and their sparkle really helps to draw the eye into the center of the design. Custom Metalwork

While the gemstones in this piece are what likely catch your eye first, it’s the intricacy of the metalwork that truly sets the design apart. From the split shank that transitions into a custom setting for the sapphire, to the beautiful hand-made filigree waves, every element of this ring is precisely placed and exquisitely detailed. 

This is also true of the hand-engraved wave pattern that moves down the sides of the shank almost to the bottom. Our skilled artisans carry out this type of detailing onsite in our Bellevue, WA location, and because they do it all by hand, they can recreate almost any pattern or design you can imagine.

Design Process

To begin this ring, our client went through our Ring Builder application, in which he first chose the shape of the center gem, and then continued on to pick out the other design elements he wanted to incorporate. Once he had done that, our experts put together some sketches for him to approve, and we then moved into the 3D modeling phase of the process.
