Engagement Ring Description

This elegant engagement ring features a round Forever Brilliant moissanite in a double claw prong setting, with round bright cut set diamond accents lined with milgrain on the split platinum shank. It was created for a couple from Seattle, WA, who collaborated with our team both in person in our Bellevue, WA showroom and online to finalize the details of the piece. Center Moissanite

The clients provided the center stone in this ring, which is a 2 carat round Forever Brilliant moissanite. They already knew this was the gem they wanted in the center, and they came to us requesting that we help them create the perfect setting to display it. Diamond Engagement Rings

Moissanite only began appearing in jewelry in the late 1990s, and all gems used in this way are lab-grown. That’s because naturally-occurring moissanite is extremely rare, having first been discovered in a meteor crater in Arizona at the end of the 19th century.

It is an incredibly brilliant gem, however, making it an excellent alternative to diamonds for engagement rings and other pieces. Forever Brilliant moissanite, which is the only kind we use, is nearly colorless, and its hardness of 9.5 on the Mohs scale is only slightly less than that of diamonds.

Split Shank and Diamond Accents

The band of this ring widens gradually as it moves up from the bottom, eventually splitting into two strands at about a quarter of the way from the top. Just before this split, two rows of round bright cut set diamonds begin. These continue along each of the strands of the shank as they separate and rotate, eventually coming together to form the prongs at the top and bottom of the diamond.

The side prongs arise from narrower bridge pieces that branch off of the main split strands, and these are also lined with bright cut set diamond accents. Finally, a ring of metal forms the base of the main setting, and this holds matching diamond accents as well. All of these diamonds are framed with delicate milgrain beading, which adds a nice vintage flair to the piece. Vintage Engagement Rings
